Don't Give Up

Don’t Give Up

“Don’t let today’s troubles bring you down.  Don’t let life’s little obstacles keep you from trying.  Don’t let your fears keep you from dreaming.  Don’t give up for any reason.  Believe in yourself.”

Don't Give Up

Keep Going

  1. This one is being written as much for me, if not more than someone else who may need to hear it.
  2. It’s been a ROUGH day.  I left the house this morning stating very emphatically that I would NOT be writing the blog anymore.  I’m still questioning it, but I couldn’t just stop.  Long story short – a post around 1,000 words that I’ve been working on for three days disappeared.  I saved it more times than I can remember, but all that is left on the page is what I wrote the first day just to get some ideas written out.  I can’t find any revisions anywhere.  I was crushed and defeated.
  3. I’ve never been a quitter.  I couldn’t have been or I would have never survived my life.  This is true for anyone in any situation.  Even if you are feeling like your path has totally collapsed into a huge cavernous hole, completely quitting is not an option.  Don’t give up.  You may have to redirect your efforts or the path may change to a totally different path, but you can’t give up and stop altogether or you will stay in the cavernous hole.
  4. When you keep moving forward, even through all the obstacles, you grow and change for the better in some way.  You will learn something, know how to meet and overcome an obstacle the next time, learn to fail with grace and the list goes on.
  5. Even when you feel a day brings an end to all you’ve been working toward, tomorrow is another day.  You usually can’t, and often shouldn’t, make major decisions on the day you feel your world caving in.  Most likely, tomorrow will be better, in at least some way.
  6. Face and challenge yourself with the one thing you fear or feel like quitting the most.  It will only look more daunting the more time goes by before you face it again.
  7. I think the hardest part of this quote, for me at least, is the “believing in yourself” part.  This is where I fall and beat myself up.  This is where I constantly question my abilities and whether I’m supposed to do anything. It’s where “don’t give up” becomes “I give up” more often than I’d like to admit.  Can anyone relate?
  8. No matter what, though, keep going and trying.
