“We’re Gonna Need a Bigger Boat”

Hi!  Welcome back.  We went through a bit of a hotter week with some monsoon rains.  I have no idea when we will have a regular rain shower anymore.  We used to have nice steady rains throughout the day, but now they are just avalanches of water for hours at a time, several days in a row.  I’m thinking about starting a little boat building project.

Anyway, grab something to drink and one of the chocolate chunk cookies that my youngest has kindly decided not to eat.  At least he keeps me from eating too much or, all to often, any.  Oh, well.  We, at least, have some for you to enjoy.  We’ll sit outside again while it’s sunny and nice.  It was really chilly last night, so, unfortunately, the warm weather may be coming to an end soon.  I am not a fan of Fall because I know what comes after it.  My favorite season is Spring, with the weather getting warmer and knowing it’s only going to get warmer and better from there.

Have a Cookie!

So, let me tell you about my week.  There were lots of doctor’s appointments this week.  Three doctor’s appointments in one week – one for each of the boys and one for me – gets REALLY expensive.  Wow!  Then there was paying the bills from some earlier ones as well as for the nonhumans.  It’s a lot of money and it gets frustrating, but I guess it’s part of life.  The family is worth it.

This was a family week.  On Tuesday, we went to one of my nephew’s football games.  He’s a coach for a kids’ football team.  They lost, but it is fun to watch him with the kids.  He’s so good with them.  Then, on Saturday, we drove to Holland, MI, for one of my other nephew’s weddings.  It is a beautiful town and it was a beautiful wedding.  It was an intimate affair with a nice dinner and dancing after and time with the family.  There was even humor when the best man (the nephew from the football game) forgot the rings and had to run out of the ceremony to get the wedding rings from the car.  So funny.  The groom made sure we all clapped for him when he came back in.  We had  a great time, but it was a lot of driving.  Four hours each way.  They were worth it, though.

Wedding Rings to Remember…or not!

We rounded out the week with my oldest and I meeting some friends from college for lunch at Red Robin (Yum!).  I’ve been wanting Red Robin for a while, so that worked out nicely.  It’s a lot of fun when the husband of the couple and I pick on each other.  It’s so nice that the wife just laughs and doesn’t come to his defense (like she used to all the time in college!).  Now she even helps at times.  Bonus!!!

So, that’s been my week.  How has yours been?  Did you have some good time with the family or have you had some time to yourself?  Either way can be really good.  I loved having time with you again this week and look forward to meeting again next week.

  1. Yeah, it was so funny. He felt awful, but he laughed, too. He said the worst part would be his brother bringing it up. “Well, yeah, but your forgot the rings at my wedding!”

I'd love to hear from you.
