Time Together

Time Together

Hi!  Come on in.  Let’s grab something to drink and sit on the porch.  It is in the 60’s and not raining…in January in Indianapolis, Indiana!  That’s so exciting!  It was especially nice yesterday when my oldest and I went to University of Evansville.  It was so beautiful to walk around with light jackets and the sun shining.  It was a great time together.

Time Together

We went to UE for their Davidson Scholar Day.  Just by attending, he will receive a scholarship for up to $2,000 per year.  I didn’t understand why they would hand out scholarships to students merely for showing up.  However, when the program started, we were told the day was for only those who had been invited.  They told us that the students in attendance were “the best of the best academically”.  I saw my son sit up a little straighter and he smiled.  He’s worked very hard to get to this point.

My son was the only one there for the foreign language department, so he got some one-on-one time and they gave him a certificate acknowledging the Spanish Scholarship he won for a film he made.  He is planning for Spanish to be his major if he attends UE or Ball State and Theater if he attends Butler.  No matter where he goes, he plans to make each of these a part of his college career.  He told me he would be all in with attending UE if it wasn’t three hours away.  The other two schools are much closer to home.  I pray he will make the decision that is right for him for him to be successful with the future God has planned for him.  I’m excited to watch it all unfold.

I missed spending time with you last weekend.  Both of my boys were out of school on Monday when my mom and brother were gone.  So, the three of us spent some time together.  My oldest and I saw “La La Land”.  It was a good movie. It felt very much like the old musicals set in modern times.  There were a few issues with it, but we both enjoyed it. My son loved the ending and I hated it.  As he said, it was not a fairytale ending, which is something I like in love stories. I vetoed the movie my youngest wanted to see and the one I approved was no longer in theaters.  So, he decided he wanted to get something to eat and get a game for the same amount I spent for the movie with my other child.  We spent time together, so that’s all that mattered.

So, how was your week?  I’d love to hear from you.
