Look at the Positives

Weekend Coffee Share 7/3/16

Thanks for joining me for some conversation and a beverage.  I’m a little under the weather with a cold that just won’t give up!  Do you ever wonder if the pressure in your head will blow the eyeballs out of your head?  Maybe that’s just me, but that’s how I feel.  So, I will keep my distance!  I’ll get better soon, I’m sure.  I have to look at the positives.  How are you feeling?  Are you well?

Saying Goodbye

I have to tell you something and I might tear up as I tell you, so I will apologize before I tell you.  Today, I had to say goodbye, for now, to my niece and her husband.  They are moving to his home country of Belgium as missionaries for at least the next five years.  I admit I cried like a baby and tears kept falling down my face for part of the drive when we left.  I know we’ll still be able to communicate and they’ll come home to the states occasionally (again, I have to look at the positives), but it’s hard to see her go.  She holds a special place in my heart and I have a horrible time when people leave.  But, I know this is a move they are supposed to make and God will be with them through it all.

OK, let me take a minute to regain my composure…  Alright, I’m good.  Thanks for giving me a moment.

My youngest took his friend with us to Holiday World and Splashin’ Safari last Thursday, which was the first installment of our alternate Hawaii trip.  I decided to take the day as a day to relax.  I mainly sat by one of the Wave pools, under a covered area, where I rested my eyes and read all day.  It was nice because another lady was doing the same thing and I didn’t have to get a locker so I could go a few places without being concerned about our things.  It was the best $49 I’ve spent in a while!

We ended the day without a bang – literally.  When we were walking to leave Splashin’ Safari, we were told, along with everyone else, that we couldn’t leave the water park.  There were police cars in sight and we noticed that none of the rides were running. No one would tell us anything, but we were told we could go into the Thanksgiving section of the park to exit.  However, when we arrived there, we were stopped, along with the rest of the people in this part of the park.  We did, however, find one of the worker’s who shared with us that it was a bomb threat.

Eventually, they figured out the best way to evacuate the park and we made our way home.  In the end, it was just an unattended backpack that someone reported as suspicious.  My son decided this was an experience no one else who had attended Holiday World, except for those with us, could say.  I liked that take on it, and that, with the fact we got some good exercise with the route they took us to exit the park, it was a good day with a story to tell.  We continue to look at the positives.

So, with that I will end with something that is supposed to explode.  I want to wish you a very Happy Fourth of July.  I absolutely LOVE fireworks and have since I was a little girl.  I even play the game Taipei that has fireworks go off when you complete a puzzle.  I actually keep watching until the fireworks start going off.  So, I’m leaving you with some in picture form!

  1. I live about an hour away from HW&SS. I must admit, that was quite an experience, one that not too many can say they’ve had. Glad everything was ok in the end. In this post 9/11 world, unattended bags and such are unsettling.
