So Blessed

Hi and welcome!  Come on in and grab something you’d like to drink.  I haven’t been to the store, so, unfortunately, I don’t have much to offer.  I see there are some Fritos on the counter.  Feel free to grab the bag if you’d like some.  Let’s go outside because it is an absolutely gorgeous day.  I am so blessed to have you join me.

So Blessed

Today is Mother’s Day.  Happy Mother’s Day to all the amazing moms out there.  It is an extremely rough job sometimes, but it’s worth every minute of it.  I didn’t have the greatest of marriages, but from it came my two boys.  I would do it all over again to have them in my life and in this world.  They give purpose and good to the rough times I’ve had.  I am so blessed.

We went to church today and then went to Cracker Barrel (Mom’s favorite) and both my youngest and Mom told me to find something there that I’d like.  One of the things I decided to get was an Indianapolis 500 shirt.  It’s been a long time since I’ve had a shirt for the internationally known local event in my city.  It’s billed as The Greatest Spectacle in Racing.  I’ve had a lot of fun at the track throughout my lifetime and the shirt just drew me to it.  Signs are everywhere for the race on Memorial Day weekend.  We can hear when something is happening at the track.  We don’t exactly live terribly close to the track, but it’s close enough to hear when it is being used.  It’s kind of fun to hear the cars.  Good times.

I didn’t have as much time this week to drive for Lyft, but I had an amazing occurrence happen.  One of the first people I picked up was a guy at one of the hospitals.  I drove him to the places he needed to go and then back to the hospital.  He was a really nice guy having an extremely rough day.  We talked about what was happening and I was concerned for him.  I’d been praying for his family and him and wondered how everything was going.

So BlessedI was on the far west side of Indianapolis on Thursday.  For some reason, I have rarely been on this side of town.  I’m not sure why, but I think it’s because I haven’t ever lived here.  (I’m only going into this detail because I want you to realize the unlikelihood of what I’m about to say ever happening.)  I got a request to pick up a lady who was going to meet her husband during his break.  When we pulled up to the building, I realized this was her husband because she had a picture of the two of them kissing on her profile.  Then he turned and looked at us.  It was the man I had just been praying about that morning and this was his wife.  He smiled and made his way over to the vehicle and we were greeting each other and talking.  His wife was looking at me like ‘Who are you and how do you know my husband?’  He explained it to her and I was so excited.  I told them how happy I was that everything was OK.

This was so amazing to me.  Before I pick up each passenger, I pray that I will be the right driver for them and can make their ride comfortable and enjoyable.  This was such an affirmation that this prayer is so important for me to say.  I want to help people through this job and make their days better.  I was so blessed that I was able to see that everything had turned out well for them.  I want to help people through this job and make their days better, even if it’s only better for the short time their with me in the vehicle.

Well, that’s been a couple highlights from the week.  How has your week been?  Did you have anything happen that truly blessed you?
