Trip to California

Trip to California

Hi and welcome on this rainy Sunday afternoon.  Grab something to eat and help yourself to a HUGE cinnamon roll that my brother brought home.  Oh, my, goodness these things are big.  I haven’t had one yet, so maybe I’ll join you in trying them.  I am leaving tomorrow for a trip to California, but let me tell you about last week first.

Trip to CaliforniaI went to the library three of the five days during the week and it was a big success in accomplishing things without many distractions (other than the lady who brought her 2 and 4-year-olds to the library with her and thought it was great to let them play tag through all the bookshelves!).

The end of the week was filled with time with friends.  I had lunch with a friend I haven’t seen for some time.  We decided to make it a regular thing.  Saturday, I met with two other friends to catch up and pray for each other followed by meeting a friend from out of town for some time at the Indianapolis Museum of Art.  It’s rejuvenating to spend time with friends and speak into each other’s lives with laughter filling in the time as well.

As I stated before, today is my last day in Indiana, and probably on WordPress for a week. Way too early tomorrow morning, my youngest and I start our mother/son trip to California.  I can’t even tell you how often he has asked me if I’m excited about the trip.  My brother just told me my son was so excited he could barely stay in his skin.  He is on his best behavior but, when he tries to be a pain in the butt, I have just told him that I wouldn’t take him on the trip if he didn’t stop and everything changes.  He tried to tell met that I wouldn’t leave him until I told him I would just go by myself.  When he said I wouldn’t, all he had to do was look at my face for him to realize that I would quite enjoy time alone for a week in sunny California at the ocean with a Mustang convertible.

It will be a good trip.  We will be touring Alcatraz, taking a downhill hike in Muir Woods with the Sequoia’s and Redwoods and going across the Golden Gate Bridge, whale watching in Monterey Bay, seeing Carmel by the Sea and Pebble Beach (so we can see some cool, expensive cars – which he loves), then we will be taking a trip down Pacific Coast Highway to stay in Los Angeles through Friday morning.  We have no plans while we’re there.  We’re just going to do some sightseeing and hanging out together going to some car showrooms in Beverly Hills and whatever else strikes our fancy.  Then we take another trip up the Pacific Coast Highway back up to San Francisco with a stop in Santa Barbara (so we can see the police station from the TV series “Psych” – his favorite show).  In the evening, we will be seeing a Golden State Warriors game and come back Saturday.  We have an eight-hour layover in Denver on the way there tomorrow, so I’m going to see about taking around four hours to go into Denver to take advantage of the time.

So, those are my last and coming weeks.  What do you have planned?
