Inviting Him In

Inviting Him In

I’ve discovered a game changer in my life. It’s so simple yet so profound. It’s changed the way my mind sometimes goes in some pretty awful directions. It has brought a peace into my life I’ve not known before. I never want to go back to the other way of living. What I’ve done is at the beginning of every day, I’ve begun to ask the Holy Spirit into my day to anoint it and guide me. After that prayer, there is a type of giddiness that comes across my body and my shoulders shake in joy for just a moment.

Inviting a Friend

Inviting Him In

I know that once you accept Christ into your life, the Holy Spirit lives in you. This is very true, but what I’m talking about is actually asking Him each day to be the guide through your day and to anoint the day to be what He wants it to be. It has been like inviting a friend to spend the day with me, but this is a powerful and beyond loving Friend. He has power and His love for me is more than any human can even comprehend.

The old voices that come after me so often from the constant abuse in my life are quieted and I’m more calm. So often I think that I’m being selfish in how I think, what I do or when I say something, or perhaps I’m thinking too highly of myself. It is what I was accused of so often if I ever voiced my opinions or showed the hurt that came from the abuse.

Healing and Power

That’s what I was accused of so often if I ever voiced my opinions or showed the hurt that came from the abuse. It got to the point that I was constantly thinking about myself to make sure I wasn’t being selfish. It made me more self-focused and a bit neurotic.

But now the Holy Spirit gives me an instant check and I know in my spirit if that is what is truly happening. Inviting Him in hasn’t made the hard thoughts go away or the pain immediately heal, but His speaking truth to me throughout my day when the thoughts come as well as guiding me is helping me heal.

When you accept Jesus into your life you also receive the Holy Spirit. He’s what helps change you. But inviting Him into each day is acknowledging His presence into your day and giving Him the leadership role of all that happens. This isn’t something new. The disciples and New Testament prophets spoke about being filled with the Holy Spirit or we are told how the Spirit came upon them in many events when they were already Christians.

Invite Him into your day, give Him the lead and see what happens. I would love to hear about it.
